You will find yourself in a modern software engineering environment, working in a cross-functional agile team, using microservices architecture built in Go hosted on Google Cloud Platform. </p><p>Our Dispatching System is the heart and brain of our order fulfillment process.  The system automatically manages the packing and delivery of tens of thousands of orders in 3 countries daily. Our backend engineers are continuously improving dispatching algorithms to optimise delivery time and efficiency.</p><ul><li>Take a leadership role in helping the team with feature development and maintenance across Flink’s arsenal of backend services/microservices</li><li>Take part in the discussion and planning of new features.</li><li>​​​​​​​Closely collaborate with other teams to deliver value to the end user.</li><li>Drive the backend chapter towards adapting and experimenting with new technologies.</li><li>Contribute to scaling up the backend team and bringing great talents onboard by conducting interviews and code pairing sessions.</li><li>We have a “you build it, you own it and you monitor it” mentality here at Flink. As a Senior Software engineer, you will ship your code using Kubernetes and monitor using DataDog.</li><li>Work on systems that use Go, Redis, Google Pub/Sub, Commercetools, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, and GCP, and on an introspection UI built with TypeScript and ReactJS.</li></ul></div></section><section><div><p></p><h2>Qualifications</h2></div><div><ul><li>Experience building scalable and reliable large-scale applications.</li><li>5 years of commercial experience as a Senior Engineer with expertise in G, Java, TypeScript or other OO or functional languages</li><li>As a Senior Software Engineer, we will expect you to have previous experience of ownership over projects/part of an application/system you have worked on.</li><li>It would be nice If you have previous experience designing and developing high-availability systems with high data/events throughput.</li><li>It would be nice if you have familiarity with optimization algorithms or techniques, and in particular with the challenges of applying them in real-world settings. </li><li>You will have previous experience of architectural input into the design and build of a backend application/product/feature.</li><li>Comfortable with event-based communication between microservices.</li><li>Familiarity with any modern monitoring / alerting/logging tools</li><li>Familiarity with data storage and message brokering tools such as Google Pub/Sub, Kafka, Redis, PostgreSQL, etc.</li><li>Experience using cloud provider platforms like GCP or AWS, and deploying distributed services to Kubernetes.
