This role can be based in one of our tech hubs in Helsinki, Berlin or Stockholm, or you can work remotely anywhere in Finland, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, and Estonia. We provide relocation support to help you make your way to Finland, Germany or Sweden.</p><p>2 years ago we started expanding our delivery offering to new verticals beyond restaurant deliveries, including for example grocery, pharmacy, merchandise, flowers and apparel. 🚀  </p><p>As a Senior Scala Software Engineer in the Merchant Product Catalog and Inventory team you will be enabling Wolt to reach new heights and expand into new verticals beyond restaurant food delivery, by building new tools and systems across the merchant domain. Read more about Scala at Wolt in <a href="https://blog.wolt.com/engineering/2022/04/13/scala-at-wolt-scala-organization/">our engineering blog</a>!</p><p>In the Merchant Product Catalog and Inventory team we have built our shiny new backend services from scratch using modern technologies that include Scala, Kafka, Kubernetes, AWS, protobuf, and Cats. We have a huge Scala ecosystem at Wolt overall and our codebase in this team is quite new (just over 1 year old), so we’re always up to date with the tech stack. The Merchant Product Catalog and Inventory team currently consists of a Product Lead, Frontend Engineers, Backend Engineers and a Product Designer. You’ll be building products and tooling to help our retail partners onboarding smoothly, manage their assortment on Wolt and keep their operations running efficiently.</p></div></section><section><div><p></p><h2>Qualifications</h2></div><div><p>In order to succeed in the role, you’ll need some years of experience building top-class software and APIs. You should also have experience in functional programming in Scala. Some of the work in the team is also done in Python, so knowing it is a huge advantage. </p><p>Since we’re building a fairly new product, we value an attitude of constant improvements, the ability to create entirely new features from scratch, and an entrepreneurial mindset of taking ownership of what you've built is a must.
