We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer for our Data Solutions team in the heart of buzzing Berlin! 
You will join a team of data scientists, machine learning specialists and data engineers building new product features driven by data and machine learning.
You will:
<ul>
<li>Build systems that power our in-product personalisation solutions</li>
<li>Collaborate with other teams to design and build interfaces that connect these systems with user facing components</li>
<li>Work with data scientists and machine learning engineers to accelerate our journey into building ML-driven systems, impacting millions of language learners across the globe</li>
<li>Contribute to architectural decisions that will enable building our data solutions on solid foundations</li>
</ul>
You have:
<ul>
<li>Computer science or related engineering degree and 5 years professional experience as backend or data engineer</li>
<li>Proficiency and industry experience in modern Python (data classes, generators, type annotations, pandas, etc.)</li>
<li>Significant experience designing and building scalable software applications with distributed and event-driven architecture</li>
<li>Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases</li>
<li>Significant experience with AWS services, operations and architecture, especially with respect to serverless and data heavy applications</li>
</ul>
Nice to have:
<ul>
<li>DevOps experience using terraform</li>
<li>Exposure to big data solutions such as Snowflake, Databricks, and Apache Flink</li>
<li>Experience with data streaming applications</li>
<li>Experience with Apache Airflow</li>
<li>Interest in machine learning, and some exposure to machine learning based systems in production</li>
</ul>
