A reliable and accurate estimate of the course of the road ahead of the vehicle is an important input for situation analysis and motion planning. With the help of radar sensors, the road course can be estimated over longer ranges than with cameras alone.</p><p>This topic allows to work across the full breadth of a machine learning use case in the context of the thesis. Topics can be emphasized according to the interest of the student but could include the following:</p><ul><li>You will prepare an overview of the existing approaches from the literature.</li><li>Furthermore, the work on the creation and curation of a data set to be used for training and evaluation will be crucial to this thesis.</li><li>The design and implementation of a neural network for road course estimation will be also part of your research.</li><li>Finally, you will evaluate and characterize the results and integrate them into an existing ADAS system by resimulating and evaluating the system performance.</li></ul></div></section><section><div><p></p><h2>Qualifications</h2></div><div><ul><li><strong>Education:</strong> Master studies in the field of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or comparable</li><li><strong>Experience and Knowledge:</strong> good knowledge of Python required, ideally experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch</li><li><strong>Personality and Working Practice:</strong> engaged team player with good communication skills, working carefully and structured</li><li><strong>Languages:</strong> good knowledge of German or English</li></ul></div></section><section><div><p></p><h2>Additional Information</h2></div><div><p><strong>Start:</strong> according to prior agreement<br> <strong>Duration:</strong> 6 months</p><p>Requirement for this thesis is the enrollment at university.
