They will create a data footprint of TBs each year, a disruptive development called the Big Bang Data. This data will contribute to our ever-growing personal digital footprint. However, this footprint will not be under our control but will be owned and used by multi-national companies to drive their businesses in a new era called the Data Economy.<br>
This development erodes the right for privacy and will result in an increasing mismatch between people's desire for being in control over their data in sensitive areas and a reality where this data is scattered, unmanageable, and not under the user's control anymore. At some point in time, this will impact people's willingness to disclose their data.<br>

To tackle these challenges Bosch Research develops solutions to store and process data securely. Especially, privacy-preserving computation techniques are relevant to provide protection of sensitive data and support secure computation on data. This includes homomorphic encryption and secure multi-party computation, but these methods are costly. Hence, these methods have to be improved and new methods need to be developed which protect data confidentiality and support efficient computation. <br>
Your Tasks:</p><ul><li>You will be part of our unique research ecosystem and work closely with the Bosch product divisions to understand their specific needs in software security and privacy. You will create new and adapt existing software security and privacy techniques (based on confidential computing, computing on encrypted data and statistical disclosure control).</li><li>As a security researcher, you will study existing tools and best practices as well as new methods and technologies from the academic research community and adapt them to the specific needs of Bosch products.</li><li>You will implement software prototypes to experimentally validate your research ideas and to showcase them to the engineers and management at the Bosch product divisions.</li><li>In addition, you will turn selected prototypes into code that meets our internal quality standards with the help of our software enablement team.</li><li>Finally, you will interact with academia as well as the Bosch-internal security community to identify new research questions, technical solutions and collaboration opportunities.</li></ul></div></section><section><div><p></p><h2>Qualifications</h2></div><div><ul><li><strong>Education: </strong>PhD in Information Security (or related fields) or professional work experience in this area for several years and experience with academic research (you have published your work at conferences or in journals)</li><li><strong>Experience and Knowledge: </strong><ul><li>very good understanding of main concepts in applied cryptography, software security, and privacy, you can prototypically implement advanced concepts in software and perform experimental evaluations</li><li>preferably good understanding in foundations and applications of privacy-preserving computation: secure multi-party computation, zero knowledge, oblivious transfer, security models, etc.</li><li>preferably privacy-preserving computing and machine-learning in real-world computing applications</li><li>You will stand out if you are an early contributor to a successful open-source project or a maintainer of a successful open-source project and have worked in an international environment.</li></ul></li><li><strong>Personality and Working Practice: </strong>positive, highly motivated and innovative team player who is eager to learn new things and passionate about applied security/privacy research</li><li><strong>Enthusiasm: </strong>eager to develop novel concepts and ideas and to materialize them by means of proof-of-concept realizations</li><li><strong>Languages: </strong>fluent in English (written and spoken)</li></ul></div></section><section><div><p></p><h2>Additional Information</h2></div><div><p><a href="https://www.bosch-ai.com">https://www.bosch-ai.com</a><br>
